WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. – The Wesleyan women's golf team shot 316-324-640 (+72) as a team to finish in 10
th place out of 15 teams competing in the Williams Fall Invitational hosted at the Taconic Golf Club.
On a rain-soaked weekend, the Cardinals managed to show well despite the less-than-ideal conditions with
Amanda Phillips '28 leading the way. Phillips shot 74-79-153 (+11) over the 36-hole tournament to finish in a tie for 12
th place on the player leaderboard out of 74 golfers. Phillips recorded three birdies on Saturday in her opening round 74 and followed with a second round 79 that featured 14 pars including eight straight to start her round.
Mia Holbrook '27 moved up nine positions on the player leaderboard between Saturday and Sunday, as the senior carded rounds of 81-77-158 (+16) to finish in a tie for 30
th place. Her second round 77 was the low round on the day for the Cardinals on Sunday as she totaled 11 pars and one birdie in round 2.
Katherine Liu '30 had a stellar 76 (+5) on Saturday in a round that saw her finish with 12 pars and one birdie. She had a streak of eight straight holes scoring par or better on Saturday. Liu followed with an 86 on Sunday to put her at 76-86-162 (+20) which was good enough for a tie for 38
th place.
Rounding out the lineup for Wesleyan was
Crissy Murphy '30 who shot 85 in both her rounds, highlighted by two birdies on Saturday.
Cecilia Roegner '27 shaved nine strokes off her total from Saturday, finishing 92-83-175 for the weekend.
Wesleyan closes out the fall slate next weekend with the Wesleyan Fall Invitational hosted at the Silver Spring Country Club in Ridgefield, Connecticut on October 3-4.
