MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – The Wesleyan women's golf team placed sixth out of 12 teams over the weekend at the George Phinney Classic hosted by Middlebury. Wesleyan went 317-328-645 (+77) in the 36-hole tournament which was won by the Panthers who finished with a 625 (+57).
Olivia Lee '30 shined in her debut for Wesleyan, posting a +16 (75-83-158) to finish in a tie for ninth place out of 66 golfers on the player leaderboard. Lee totaled 12 pars and one birdie in her opening round 75 on Saturday while she added two more birdies to her weekend total in round 2 on Sunday.
Amanda Phillips '28 was the next-highest finisher for Wesleyan as the junior shot 80-81-161 (+19) to finish in a tie for 21
st place. Phillips posted two birdies on Saturday and had 11 pars on Sunday.
Katherine Liu '30 went 78-85-163 (+21) to finish in a tie for 26
th as the rookie shined on Saturday with two birdies and an eagle on the par 4 8
th hole. She added one more birdie on Sunday to give her three for the weekend.
Mia Holbrook '27 shaved five strokes off her total from Saturday with a team-best 79 (+8) on Sunday to finish 84-79-163 (+21). Holbrook recorded 11 pars on Sunday and just one hole with a score worse than bogey.
Crissy Murphy rounded out the lineup for the Cardinals with an 85-97-182 (+40).
The Cardinals are back in action next weekend with a trip to Taconic Golf Club for the Williams Fall Invitational.
