Women’s Basketball Dominates York (NY) in 91-27 Victory

Five Cardinals reach double figures in scoring

JAMAICA, N.Y. – Scoring at least 20 points in every quarter, including 27 in the first, the Wesleyan women's basketball team finished off a dominating 91-27 road win at York (NY) on Tuesday night. Wesleyan (4-1) ups their win streak to three straight, all of which coming on the road.
 
Wesleyan scored on their first three possessions, setting a tone for the evening that carried the Cardinals throughout. It was 14-3 Cardinals 5:11 into play after Olivia Quinn '26 canned a triple and Madi Gomez '24 followed with a fast break layup off a turnover to hand the Cardinals a lead that swelled to 27-9 at the end of one.
 
Seven players scored in the second quarter for Wesleyan who went on a 14-2 run to close the half, leading 47-16 at the halftime break. All nine Cardinals who saw minutes in the first half scored at least three points.
 
It took nearly six minutes into the second half for the lead to swell to 40 points as Tori DaCosta '25, Quinn, and Maggie Lee '23 combined for 16 of the Cardinals' 20 points in the frame to lead 67-23 heading into the fourth.
 
Wesleyan again leaned on a team balance in the fourth as five players scored at least four points, with the Cardinals outscoring York 24-4 to close out the 63-point win.
 
Five Cardinals reached double figures in scoring, led by Felicia Fongemie '27 who scored 16 points on 7-for-11 shooting in her first career start. Quinn posted her second straight double-double with 14 points (6-12 FG) and 10 rebounds to go along with three assists and four steals. DaCosta totaled 14 points and seven rebounds in 17 minutes. Lee contributed across the board with 12 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
 
Coming off the bench to record her first career double-double was Alli Jones '27 who scored 10 and grabbed 12 rebounds. Alana Jones '24 totaled six points, six rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Kaylin Genda '26 scored eight points while Ceci Coughlin '27 had six and Gomez posted five points, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
 
Next up for Wesleyan is a return back to Silloway Gymnasium on Saturday for a 2 PM tip-off against Amherst in a Little Three, non-league contest.
