MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The No. 21 ranked Wesleyan women's soccer team scored early in the first half, but Trinity found the equalizer in the 59th minute to level the game 1-1. The Cardinals are 4-1-1 and sit in a three-way tie for second place in the conference standings with seven points.
Â
The Bantams had a good chance to open the scoring with 8:50 expired, but Laurel Iorio's one-time attempt on a corner was punched away by Wesleyan goalie
Molly Brumbach '26.
Â
Just under five minutes later, the Cardinals took a 1-0 edge.
Kerenza Leahey '27 took a free kick from outside the 18-yard box on the right, before
Waverly Meyers' '26 one-time header found the upper right corner of the goal. This gives Meyers five goals in six games this season.Â
Â
Trinity equalized with 59:01 elapsed in the contest. Elena Lindonen barreled down the right sideline before sending a through ball to Sami Olsen at the top of the 18. Olsen made a move around a defender, before firing her shot into the bottom left 90 to make it 1-1.
Â
Both teams had quality chances to tally the golden goal during a one-minute span beginning at the 68:38 mark. Bantam Sadie Rudolph rifled a shot from 30-yards out that skidded just left of the post. Less than a minute later,
Riley Buehler '26 sent a ball from the middle of the field to the right flank, but
Audrey Lavey's '23Â one-time bid sailed over the crossbar.
Â
Leahey's assist was the first of her career, while Brumbach recorded a season-high three stops.
Â
The Cardinals continue their NESCAC home weekend on Sunday when they host Hamilton at 11:00 AM.
