CLINTON, N.Y. – Competing for the first time in 2024, the Wesleyan women's swimming & diving team traveled to Hamilton for a quad meet on Saturday. The Cardinals finished in fourth place as defeats came to the host Continentals (200-89), RIT (186-114), and Ithaca (151-149).
Izzy Paez '26 took home a victory in the 100 fly, besting the runner-up finisher by more than one second with her time of 59.55 seconds. The sophomore also took home third place in the 200 fly, clocking in at 2:15.47.
Paez' day wasn't quite finished as she helped the Cardinals take third in the 200 free relay, combining with
Izzy Pennington '24,
Bella Kellner '24, and
Zoe Kuhn '26 for a time of 1:42.18. In addition, the Cardinals' 200 medley relay team of Paez,
Mia Dezelic '27,
Sara Bohacek '26, and Kellner clocked in at 1:51.79 to take fourth in the event.
Dezelic put forth a solid all-around showing, placing second in the 200 IM (2:14.83) and fourth in the 200 free (2:02.11) in addition to her relay contribution. Kuhn landed a runner-up finish in the 500 free as she touched the wall in 5:26.14.
Olivia Stevenson '25 took fifth place in the same event at 5:30.18. Kuhn also placed third in the 100 free at 54.88 seconds.
Pennington landed in third place in the 100 back at 1:01.46 while she later took fourth in the 200 back with a time of 2:15.74.
Lydia Brutvan '25 earned fifth place in the 200 back (2:16.14) while
Victoria Carroll '24 finished in sixth (2:16.55).
Other top finishers included Bohacek with a third-place result in the 100 breast (1:10.99).
Anne Conway '26 placed fourth in the 100 fly (1:02.18),
Nora Bootchk '26 was sixth in the 100 breast (1:11.90), and Kellner was sixth-best in the 100 fly (1:02.32).
Next up for Wesleyan is a mid-week trip Trinity for a dual meet on Wednesday at 2 PM.
