No. 23 Cardinals Draw Scoreless with No. 2 Amherst in NESCAC Showdown

AMHERST, Ma. – In a highly sought NESCAC matchup, the No. 23 unbeaten Wesleyan women's soccer team traveled to No. 2 Amherst College, ending the afternoon in a scoreless draw from Amherst's Hitchcock Field.

Prior to this afternoon's match, the last two NESCAC matches for the Cardinals (7-0-2 overall, 5-0-2 NESCAC) ended in a 2-2 draw with No. 9 Middlebury, and a 2-1 defeat of No. 22 Tufts. Now facing the Mammoths (6-0-3 overall, 4-0-2 NESCAC), the Cardinals deployed their star-studded defense of Tori Rideau-Winds '26, Caty Clements '25, and Sheridan Snow '28, to hold the Mammoths to just 10 shots and without a goal for 90 minutes.

Starting in goal for the Cardinals, Molly Brumbach '26 finished the game with five saves on the Mammoths. Five different potential scoring opportunists managed to get a shot on goal. Brumbach earns the shutout, her fifth of the season. Brumbach is 6-0-2 as the Cardinals starting goalkeeper.

Leading the Cardinals offense, Katie O'Connell '25 put two blasts on Mammoths goalkeeper, Mika Fisher. Fisher finished the afternoon for the Mammoths with six saves.

The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 8, when they travel just up the road to Trinity College for a 6 p.m. NESCAC kickoff.
