Box Score HARTFORD, CT. – As they jumped four spots in the national rankings, the No. 19 Wesleyan women's soccer team continued their unbeaten streak as they pull out a 1-0 NESCAC win over Trinity College on Tuesday night, earning their seventh shutout of the season from Trinity's soccer fields.
It was a scoreless first half for the Cardinals (8-0-2 overall, 4-0-2 NESCAC) and the Bantams (2-8-0 overall, 0-5-0 NESCAC), notwithstanding the on goal shot count for both sides. While the save counts were matched at four saves apiece for
Molly Brumbach '26 and Lily Bracken, the Cardinals outshot the Bantams 6-4 heading into the half.
Entering the second, it was
Stefanie Stoj '26 that gave the Cardinals the one up with a goal at 43:10 to crack the scoring from the goal line. As the Cardinals danced the ball down through the Bantams defense,
Riley Buehler '27 settled a pass at the top of the box from
Katie O'Connell '25, her knee deflecting the ball to Stoj on the line. Stoj's left foot angled the ball down the center of the goal and behind Bracken.
Late in the second half at 15:30, O'Connell had a solid scoring attempt off a corner kick, but her header was caught and the play lulled by Bracken on the jump. O'Connell led the team with five shots on goal. She leads the NESCAC in that category.
With six saves on the evening, Brumbach collects the win, earning her sixth shutout of 2024. Brumbach's six shutouts are now tied for first in the NESCAC. Bracken finished the game with eight saves in goal for the Bantams.
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Oct. 12, when they host Williams College at Jackson Field for a 12 p.m. kickoff.
