BRUNSWICK, ME. – The Wesleyan women's ice hockey team fell 2-1 in NESCAC action to Bowdoin College on Saturday afternoon in the second game of a weekend road series from Bowdoin's Sidney J. Watson Arena.
Having already put a damper on the Cardinals' season opener, the Polar Bears thought they were going to walk away with a two-goal shutout to close out a two-win weekend, but
Caroline Kee '26 had other plans.
Down two goals heading into the third period, the Cardinals managed to catch a break as the bears were called on a hooking penalty. Now with the man advantage, the Cardinals went to work landing three shots on goaltender Sarah Peterson before Kee was able to sail the puck over the line on a rebound shot by
Dylan Green '26.
The Bears struck first late in the first period, Jackie Miller putting a puck back on a rebound after
Sami Smith '27 made the initial save. Goal two for the Bears in the second period went to Elizabeth Kent.
Kee led all Cardinals on the draw, winning nine from the circle. Landing seven shots on Peterson, Kee drove the offense all afternoon.
Getting her first start in goal, Smith made 30 saves on 32 shots. Peterson finished with 39 saves.
The Cardinals return to the ice on Friday, Nov. 22, when they hit the road for a weekend series at Middlebury with puck drop at 7 p.m.
