MIDDLETOWN, CT. - Now a perfect 5-0 heading into the holiday break, the Wesleyan men's squash team put together a valiant effort to overthrow Connecticut College on Wednesday night as Wesleyan came away with a 5-4 NESCAC victory from the Rosenbaum Squash Center.

Morgan Shatzman, the Cardinals took the Camels down to the wire as they narrowly escaped defeat by a one-point margin. Shatzman stands with a perfect record to open the first five games of the season, recording five wins as he swept his opponents 3-0 in every match. Wednesday night's matchup with Gabriel Solonsky at #6 was no different with Shatzman walking away with 11-7, 11-6, 11-5 game wins.
Shatzman, however, is not the only Cardinal with a winning record for the time being.
Jack Lungstrum '25 picked up his fifth consecutive win at #5, defeating Gordan Fairborn 3-1. Lungstrum fell in the second game but rallied back to win two in a row, finishing with 11-9, 11-13, 11-9, 11-9 final scores.
Sumer Singh Ahluwalia '26 also cleared his fifth win in a row, sweeping Oliver Machiels 3-0 at #7. Ahluwalia concluded his match win with 11-2, 11-6, 11-7 game finals.
At #9,
Ian Stein '26 was the first Cardinal on the board with a 3-0 sweep of JJ O'Garro. Stein took just 14 minutes to tally 11-8, 11-1, 11-7 game wins.
Preston Crawford '25laid claim to the match point for the Cardinals as he went 3-2 at #4 over Noah Fish. Fish won games two and four, but Crawford walked away with three sandwiched wins going 11-8, 9-11, 11-5, 11-13, 11-8 to close out the night.
The Cardinals return to action in 2025 when they host Bowdoin in NESCAC action on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 10 a.m.
