Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women’s hockey defeated at Colby, 3-1

WATERVILLE, ME. – Sophomore forward Dylan Green led the offensive charge for the Wesleyan women's ice hockey team, putting away one goal as they fell in NESCAC action to No. 12 Colby College in the second of a two-game weekend series on Saturday afternoon from Colby's Jack Kelley Rink.

Down two goals heading into the third period, Green ruined the Mules' (14-7-1 overall, 6-7-1 NESCAC) hope of a second shutout as her puck found the back of the Mules net at 13:49. Gaining possession of the puck in the Cardinals' (11-8-3 overall, 6-6-2 NESCAC) own zone, Green rushed the ice with the puck on her own before faking out a Mules defender to the left and taking a wrist shot from out front and center of Mules goaltender, Paige Bolyard.

Audrey Shirer scored the first goal of the afternoon for the Mules at 14:43 of the first period. Megan Martodam gave the Mules their two-goal lead in the second period, putting the puck away at 6:38. The final goal of the game went to Beth Sinson with eight minutes remaining in regulation.

The Cardinals penalty kill unit managed to finish off all four penalties, allowing no goals.

In goal for the Cardinals, Rei Halloran '23 finished the afternoon with 23 saves. Bolyard made 24 saves for the Mules.

The Cardinals return to action on Friday, Feb. 16, when they head to Trinity for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
