PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Wesleyan men's squash team recorded their second 9-0 win in as many days at the CSA Divisional Team Championship, defeating Fordham in a sweep in Pool A round robin play. With the win, Wesleyan (7-11) advances to the Conroy Cup (D Division) title match with the opponent being a familiar one in Conn. College. The first place match is set for a Noon start on Sunday from the Arlen Specter US Squash Center.
Wesleyan wasted no time in an unblemished win over the Rams, winning all nine matches in 3-0 sweeps, with none of the 27 games requiring extra points and all nine matches finishing in 30 minutes or less.
Nimai Kini '26 toppled Nicholas Gilman 11-2, 11-6, 11-9 at #1 while
Abhinav Gupta '25 won at #2 over Bennett Van Liew 11-6, 11-5, 11-5.
Toby Goldston '24 saw his match against Henry Frawley at #3 last the longest as he needed 30 minutes to win his match in a 11-9, 11-5, 11-4 score line.
Dhairya Shah '27 picked up his team-leading 10
th win of the season, as he defeated Jack Stanley at #4, 11-9, 11-3, 11-5.
Ethan Yan '25 breezed past Robert Cruikshank in a 11-2, 11-6, 11-5 victory at #5 while
Preston Crawford '24 got past Gray Kearns 11-8, 11-6, 11-6 at #6.
Morgan Shatzman '25 dropped just 12 total points in a commanding 11-6, 11-3, 11-3 win at #7 over Sofia Arseniev.
Jack Lungstrum '25 also lost just 12 total points at #8, as he defeated Crispin McCarthy 11-2, 11-3, 11-7.
Cole Zetterquist finished off the 9-0 win for Wesleyan with the quickest match of the day, defeating Nicholas Choo 11-3, 11-1, 11-1 at #9 in just 13 minutes.
This is the 13
th time in team history that Wesleyan is competing in the Conroy Cup (D Division), as the Cardinals head into the title match looking for their fourth Conroy Cup title in program history and the first since 2017. The only other two Conroy Cup titles came when the Cardinals won consecutive trophies in 1991-92.
Awaiting the Cardinals is a matchup against Conn. College, in what will be the third time these two sides have faced one another this season. Wesleyan won the two regular season matches by the same 6-3 score line. The Cardinals are 47-19 all-time against the Camels and have won eight straight against Conn. dating back to 2020.
