MIDDLETOWN, CT. – With a combined five first-place finishes,
Zoe Kuhn '26,
Izzy Paez '26, and
Sara Bohacek '26 led the Wesleyan women's swimming and diving on Saturday afternoon as Wesleyan fell to Connecticut College 154-140 from Wesleyan's Webster Natatorium.
Kuhn's first win of the afternoon came in the 200-yard freestyle as she touched the wall with a final time of 1:58.99. Kuhn also won the 100-yard freestyle, coming in with a final time of 54.34. Paez won the 200-yard butterfly event, bringing home a final time of 2:10.07 before she won the 100-yard fly, swimming a 59.44. Bohacek took home the 200-yard breaststroke as she swam a clocked time of 2:23.71.
Stella Oman '26 took home her first, first-place victory in the 3-meter dive as she finished with a final score of 186.37.
In the 1,000-yard freestyle,
Sophia McDermott '27 swam a season-best 11:43.31 for fifth place.
Coming up behind Kuhn in the 200-yard free,
Izzy Pennington '24 placed second at 1:59.77. In fifth place,
Anne Conway swam a 2:02.48.
Mia Dezelic '27 placed second in the 100-yard backstroke, swimming a 1:00.28.
Victoria Carroll '24 placed third at 1:01.28. In fourth place,
James LaCroix '27 finished at 1:03.79, and
Madison Macalintal '26 took fifth place with a final 1:04.71.
Third place in the 100-yard breaststroke went to
Nora Bootchk '26 with a time of 1:11.29. Fifth place went to Bohacek at 1:11.47.
Behind Paez in the 200-yard fly,
Elena Baird '26 swam a 2:14.80 for third place.
Maya Milrod '24 finished with a 2:22.50 for fifth.
Bella Kellner '24 took second place in the 50-yard freestyle, coming in at 25.53.
Jadyn George '25 finished in fifth with a clocked 2:23.12.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Pennington took second place as she swam a 2:11.70. A third-place finish went to Carroll with a final time of 2:15.74. Baird finished in fifth, swimming a 2:23.12.
Bootchk placed second behind Bohacek in the 200-yard breaststroke as she finished with a 2:35.94.
Sadie Woodruff '26 swam a 2:36.77 for fourth place.
Baird took a third-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle as she touched the wall at 5:31.31.
Taking third in the 100-yard fly behind Paez, Conway swam a 1:01.24, Kellner placed fourth at 1:03.33, and
Elle Immel '26 finished in fifth at 1:04.36.
Dezelic swam a 1:03.24 in the 100-yard individual medley for second place and Bohacek took third with a 1:03.52.
With a final score of 185.77, Oman took second in the 1-meter dive event.
Sophie Taubman finished third with a score of 169.65. In the 3-meter, Taubman placed third with a 157.65 score.
The Wesleyan 'A' team combined for a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, swimming a final 1:51.18. The 'B' team placed fourth at 1:53.13. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Wesleyan 'A' again took first place with a combined 1:39.83 and the 'B' team took fourth with a 1:44.38.
The Cardinals return to the pool on Friday, Feb. 9, and Saturday, Feb. 10, when they compete in the Boston University Winter Opening beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday.
