SAN ANTONIO, TX – With a win at No. 1 doubles and a singles victory at No. 2,
Ben Mitchell '24 helped lead the Wesleyan men's tennis team as they fell to No. 14 Trinity University, 6-3, in the final match of their Spring Break trip to Texas on Saturday afternoon.
Picking up the first point of the afternoon for the Cardinals, Mitchell and doubles partner
JT Bilski '26 defeated Aashish Dhanani and Eric Liao in a 8-6 match victory. The Tigers came away with a win at No. 2 as Jared Perry and Ethan Flores beat
Brett Keeling '27 and
Harry Collomb '26, 8-6. And Rob Chang and Dalton Locke came away with a 8-2 win over
Harry Portnoy '24 and
Max Litton '26 at No. 3.
Keeling came away with the second point of the day for the Cardinals in the No. 3 singles spot as he cleared Chang in a 6-3, 6-2 victory. Forcing at third set at No. 2, Mitchell fell in the first set to Connor Whittington 4-6, but rallied in set two with a 6-4 win and finished off the match with another 6-4 score for the win.
The Tigers took the remaining four singles points at No. 1, No. 4, No. 5, and No. 6.
The Cardinals return home to Middletown to face Quinnipiac on Wednesday, March. 20, at the John Wood Memorial Courts.
