SAN ANTONIO, TX – Undefeated on the season and a perfect 4-0 in Spring Break action, the Wesleyan women's tennis team wrapped up their trip to Texas with a 9-0 sweep of No. 16 Trinity University on Saturday afternoon as they return home to Middletown now 6-0.
Kicking off the day,
Renna Mohsen-Breen '25 and
Lane Durkin '27 claimed the first point of the afternoon with a 8-1 victory over Rosabella Andrade and Ellie Hughes at No. 3.
Caitlyn Ferrante '24 and
Sarah Youngberg '26 clipped Ruth Hill and Olivia Kim in a 8-5 win. Picking up the third point to open the match 3-0,
Leila Epstein '26 and
Jackie Soloveychik '27 defeated Cate Cushing and Trinity Levy 8-5 at No. 2.
At No. 1, Ferrante was quick to finish off Hill in a 6-4, 6-2 win. Soloveychik was next in the No. 4 spot and came away with a 6-2, 6-4 match victory over Kim. Youngberg downed Hughes in a 6-2, 6-3 win in the No. 2 spot. Epstein fell in the first set of her match 6-7 (2-7) but came away with the 6-1 second set before a third set tiebreaker also went in Epstein's favor, 1-0 (10-3). Durkin defeated Andrade at No. 5 with a 6-3, 6-1 win. And at No. 6, Mohsen-Breen downed Cushing at 7-6 (7-4), 6-2.
The Cardinals return home to Middletown for a Thursday, March 21, match against Brandeis at the John Wood Memorial Courts.
