TUCSON, Az. – The Wesleyan baseball team suffered a 15-0 defeat to Redlands in a seven-inning contest played at the Kino Sports Complex in Arizona. The Cardinals drop to 9-2 on the season while the Bulldogs are now 11-11.
Wesleyan fell behind early, seeing Redlands plate two runs in the 1
st inning and five more in the 3
rd to make it 7-0. The Cardinals had their best opportunity to get back into the game in the 4
th inning as
Tyler Cosgrove '25 led off with a single before
Jack Carpenter '25 singled to left and
Luke LaSaracina '25 walked, loading the bases with one out. However, a crucial inning-ending double play on the next batter kept Redlands ahead by seven.
The Bulldogs put the game away with a five-run 5
th inning including a two-out grand slam from Nathan Miller.
Cosgrove went 2-for-3 to lead the Cardinal offense while Carpenter entered for his first career pitching appearance in the bottom of the 6
th, getting two outs with no hits allowed in mop-up duty.
The Cardinals look to rebound with their final game of the spring break trip scheduled for tomorrow at 12:30 PM (EST) against Carleton.
