HARTFORD, CT. – The Wesleyan women's tennis team continued their spring tear with another victory on Saturday afternoon, advancing a perfect 8-0 on the season and 3-0 in the NESCAC as they defeated Trinity College 9-0 in NESCAC action from the Assaiante Tennis Center.
Leila Epstein '26 and
Jackie Soloveychik '27 opened the match with a quick 8-0 clearing of Angelina Shyltsyna and Naisha Rathi at No. 2.
Lane Durkin '27 and
Renna Mohsen-Breen '25 followed at No. 3 with a 8-2 doubles win over Elise Brennan and Kennedy White. The third point of the match went to
Caitlyn Ferrante '24 and
Sarah Youngberg '26 as the No. 1 pairing, defeating Josephine Kimball and Ella Baker, 8-2.
Durkin made easy work of Rathi in the No. 5 singles slot, sweeping the Bantam in a 6-0, 6-0 contest. Mohsen-Breen had a second sweep for the Cardinals at No 6, beating Hellena Trojer 6-0, 6-0.
Epstein handled Baker at No. 3 in a 7-5, 6-4 match win. At No. 4, Soloveychik finished Brennan in a 6-0, 6-1 final tally. Youngberg continued the Cardinals' work with a win over Shyltsyna at No. 2, going 6-0, 6-3.
Ferrante's third set comeback finished off the match for the Cardinals as the senior won the first set 6-2, before falling to Kimball in set two 5-7. The final set went in Ferrante's favor with a final 10-6 score.
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, April 6, when they host Tufts at the John Wood Memorial Courts beginning at 10:30 a.m.
