MIDDLETOWN, CT. – The Wesleyan men's tennis team fell in NESCAC action to No. 14 Tufts University on Saturday afternoon as they were swept 9-0 from Wesleyan's Bacon Field House.
With two matches going to third set tiebreakers,
JT Bilski '26 and
Ben Mitchell '24 put up fights at No. 1 and NO. 2 singles. Bilski took an early lead in set one, claiming a 6-4 set win, but Vuk Vuksanovic bounced back with a 6-1, 7-6 finish. Mitchell also claimed a 6-4 set one win before Javier Gonzalez redeemed himself and won out the final sets 7-5, 10-5.
At No. 6, Portnoy '24 forced a tiebreaker in set one, but Andrej Djokic pulled away 7-6 (12), 6-1.
Max Lustgarten '25 and
Harry Collomb '26 kept a close watch on Derin Acaroglu and Mauricio Gutierrez in the No. 2 doubles pairing, but the Jumbos came away with the eventual 8-5 final.
The Cardinals return to action on Sunday, April 7, when they host Bates in NESCAC action at the John Wood Memorial Courts beginning at 2 p.m.
