MEDFORD, Mass. – The eight-seed Wesleyan softball team suffered a 10-0 five-inning defeat to top-seed and host Tufts on Friday afternoon. Wesleyan sees their season end with a 16-21 record while the Jumbos improve to 32-6.

After holding Tufts scoreless through two innings, Wesleyan was done in by an eight-run 3
rd inning as the Jumbos sent 14 batters to the plate in the frame, scoring the eight runs on eight hits. The first nine batters in the inning all reached base before
Ella DeCrescenzo '27 got Rachel Moore to fly out to end the inning.

Wesleyan had a chance to get back into the game in the 4
th as
Waverly Smart '27 reached on an error and
Isabella Secaira-Cotto '25 later singled up the middle to put two runners on-base with one out. A ground out back to the pitcher moved both baserunners into scoring position, but
Molly Lennon '26 grounded out to second to end the inning.

Tufts added two more runs in the bottom of the 4
th as Heaven Oliva hit a leadoff homer and Haley Leimbach singled home a run to make it 10-0.
Revi Brown '23 entered in relief and worked her way out of the inning with no further damage.

Sophia DiCocco retired the side in-order in the top of the 5
th to finish off the victory as she went the full five innings with just one hit allowed and no walks, requiring just 53 pitches.

Wesleyan enjoyed a bounce back campaign in 2024 as the Cardinals won six NESCAC games one year removed from going 1-17 in league play in 2023. The Cardinals graduate three players in Brown,
Hannah Docktor '24, and
Bella Tassone '24.
