Second Half Comeback Boosts Cardinals over Hamilton, 2-1

CLINTON, N.Y.  – Down a goal as they entered the second half, the Wesleyan men's soccer team snatched up two goals in 12 minutes to defeat Hamilton College, 2-1 on Saturday afternoon from Love Field.

The only goal in the first half went to the Continentals (1-3-0 overall, 1-2-0 NESCAC) as Luke O'Dowd was able to score on Mathis Blanc '26 at the 25-minute mark. The Cardinals (3-0-1 overall, 2-0-0 NESCAC) held a small shooting edge on the Continentals heading into the half, but the Continentals would pick up pace despite the Cardinals' future scoring opportunities.

Chris Porte '25 tied the game at 52:59 following a corner kick attempt by the Continentals. Porte's goal was his first of the season. 12 minutes later at 64:31, Zack Burd '25 tallied the game winner with his second goal of the season. Dylan Clack '27 earning the assist. The Cardinals defense held for the remainder of the game.

In goal, Blanc finished the afternoon with three saves for the Cardinals. Continentals goalkeeper Finn Wheeler recorded five saves.

The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday, Sept. 17, when they host Springfield College at 7 p.m. at Smith Field.
