MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Another week, another Wesleyan women's golf underclassman lands a Top 5 finish as the Cardinals placed seventh out of 11 teams at the George Phinney Classic hosted by Middlebury at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course.
Mia Holbrook '27 starred for the Cardinals on the weekend, shooting an opening round 77 (+6) before recording a 75 (+4) on Sunday, finishing with a two-day stroke total of 152 (+10) which was good enough for fifth place out of 63 golfers on the player leaderboard. Holbrook's first round featured three birdies while in round two she totaled 11 pars and two birdies.
Amanda Phillips '28, who had a record-breaking debut performance last weekend, followed up with a solid performance this weekend as the first-year fired back-to-back 78's (+7) to finish in 14
th place at 156 (+14). Phillips ran a streak of eight straight holes shooting par or better in the front 9 of her round two outing.
Mia Bardinelli '26 was the third-best scorer on the weekend for the Cardinals as the junior responded with a 79 (+8) in round two, shaving five strokes off her 84 (+13) in round one. Bardinelli finished with two birdies in each round, giving her four for the weekend, while she placed 35
th in the player leaderboard.
Rounding out the field for Wesleyan was
Kayla Howell '26 (84-86) and
Nicole Lee '28 (88-95) while
Rosie Leonard '26 (88-86) competed as an individual.
The Cardinals are back in action next weekend with a trip to the Taconic Golf Club for the Williams Invite on September 28-29.
