Women’s Hockey Shut Out at Hamilton, 1-0

CLINTON, N.Y. – Scoreless through 54 minutes of action, the Wesleyan women's ice hockey team was shutout on the road on Friday night by Hamilton College, 1-0, after a late goal with just six minutes to go in regulation pushed Hamilton over the finish line in the first game of the weekend series from Hamilton's Sage Rink.

Holding down behind the Cardinals' (6-9-0 overall, 1-6-0 NESCAC) defense, Jenna Guglielmi '27 came up with 26 saves over the course of 58 minutes while in goal for the Cardinals. Fortunate enough not to face the Continentals' (5-8-1 overall, 1-5-1 NESCAC) power play through the matchup, Guglielmi's second period was loaded with 11 shots, all of which she saved.

Following a faceoff win by the Cardinals thanks to Sam Galanek '26, the Continentals were able to regain possession and set up in front of Guglielmi. Abby Weis and Grace Puskar fired on Guglielmi but it was Jamie Porter that landed the rebounded puck over the line and behind Guglielmi.

Gaining a man-advantage as the Continentals were called for tripping and hooking minors after the game-winning goal, the Cardinals managed five shots on Teagan Brown before the buzzer called the end of the game. Brown finished the game with 23 saves for the Continentals.

Caroline Kee '26 led the Cardinals from the faceoff, walking away with 11 wins off the draw. Beats Tura '27 and Aimee Seppenwolde '26 each had a team high three shots on goal and two blocks.

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Jan. 18, when they face Hamilton in the second game of their weekend series beginning at 3 p.m.
