MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – Trailing by as many as 16 in the first half, the Wesleyan women's basketball team dug in and battled all the way back to lead by two with 3:12 left in the third quarter, only to see Trinity use a 19-2 run to end up with a 63-50 win over the Cardinals on Saturday afternoon from Silloway Gymnasium. Wesleyan (7-11, 1-4 NESCAC) sees their two-game win streak snapped while the Bantams (15-4, 4-1 NESCAC) are winners of five straight.

After a quiet first quarter saw the two sides combine for just 21 points, Trinity came out with a flurry in the second quarter, scoring 14 unanswered points to take a 31-15 lead with 2:51 left before halftime. Avery Marzo keyed the run, scoring 11 of Trinity's 19 second quarter points, but Wesleyan did well to cut the deficit to single digits at the half.

Aviva Schnitzer '28 all had buckets in a 7-0 burst to make it 31-22 at the break.

The Cardinals continued to fight back, scoring the first five points of the second half to make it a 31-27 game. Trinity registered their first points in nearly seven minutes, but the Cardinals kept coming, lowering the deficit before ultimately taking a lead as
Olivia Quinn '26 pulled up from 12 feet to make a jumper that put Wesleyan ahead 39-37.

From that point forward, however, the game swung back in Trinity's favor as Lucy Dorion hit one of her four three-pointers following the Quinn make before Marzo hit from deep on consecutive possessions as Trinity restored a seven-point lead.

The Bantams put the game away early on in the fourth, scoring 10 unanswered points while holding Wesleyan scoreless for the first 6:36 of the stanza. Trinity led by as many as 16 points in the fourth quarter before ultimately closing out a 63-50 road win.

Four Cardinals hit double figures in scoring, led by Quinn (13 points, four assists, two steals, two blocks). Fongmie (12 points, 10 rebounds) and Kirck (11 points, 11 rebounds) each registered career-high rebound totals as well as their first career double-doubles.
Tori DaCosta '25 had 10 points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

Marzo led the Bantams with a career-high 21 points while Dorion went 4-for-5 from three on her way to 12 points off the bench.
