Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Late Goals Spark Cardinals to 2-0 Shutout of Conn.

MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Picking up their second shutout in 24 hours, the Wesleyan women's ice hockey team closed out their weekend with a 2-0 victory over Connecticut College on Saturday afternoon as they were led by Aimee Seppenwolde '26 and Sam Galanek '26 late in the third period from Spurrier-Synder Arena.

Facing the Camels (3-5-0 overall) for the first time this season in non-conference action, the Cardinals (4-6-0 overall) were flying high off a 1-0 shutout of UMass Boston on Friday night. With just under seven minutes of action underway in the third period, Seppenwolde struck for the sixth time this season to open the scoring. Gaining possession in the neutral zone, Seppenwolde made haste through the Camels' zone while chased down by two defenders before sending the puck under the left pad of Devon Galizio. Seppenwolde leads the team with six points.

Parked in front of the goal crease as the Cardinals played the puck down into the left corner, Galanek deflected a bouncing pass from Sam DeLeo '25 over the goal line just outside the five-minute mark of regulation. Galanek's back-handed scoop of the puck notched her first-career goal as a Cardinal to give the Cardinals a two-goal victory.

As both teams were held scoreless through the first and second periods, the Cardinals' penalty kill unit used the time to kill off four penalties with Jenna Guglielmi '27 making seven total saves through eight minutes while in goal.

Guglielmi earned her second win of the season, making 43 saves in goal while earning her first shutout of the season. Galizio finished the evening with 27 saves for the Camels.

The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday, Jan. 7, when they host Manhattanville at 3 p.m.
