WILLIAMSTOWN, MA. – Suffering just the second loss of the season on Saturday afternoon, the No. 20 Wesleyan women's soccer team fell to No. 9 Williams College while on the road in a 1-0 NESCAC shutout from Williams' Cole Field.
Saturday's loss comes on the heels of a 2-1 defeat to No. 10 Middlebury just the week prior with a 3-0 reprieve over Amherst in between. The Cardinals sit seventh in the conference with four games to go, three of which are NESCAC matchups.
The Ephs got the early jump on the Cardinals, scoring inside the opening 10 minutes of game play. Bria Abbiati scored her second goal of the season, working her way behind goalkeeper
Molly Brumbach '26 with the game winner. The Cardinals played catchup for the remaining 80 minutes of regulation, attempting to tie the match up.
With four and half minutes remaining in the second half, the Ephs charged up the far line and fired on Brumbach posted at the right post. Brumbach tipped the save, but it was
Zoey Fagnan '26 on the line that made the second save to keep the ball from rolling into the goal before Brumbach could catch her bearings.
Meredith Feiner '28 and
Kerenza Leahey '27 led the offense with a shot apiece on Margaret Huelin.
Brumbach finished the afternoon with nine saves as Huelin made two.
The Cardinals return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 14, when they host Rhode Island College at 7:15 PM.
