No. 18 Men’s Soccer Cruises to 1-1 Season Finale Draw with Conn.

MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Claiming the #2 seed in the NESCAC for the first time since 2013, the Wesleyan men's soccer team put an end to the 2025 regular season in dramatic fashion as Joshwin Jennings '27 put away Connecticut College in a 1-1 draw on Saturday night, scoring on a penalty kick at Smith Field.

Marking the first Top 4 finish in over a decade, the second-seeded Cardinals will make their 22nd appearance in the NESCAC Championship for the sixth season in a row. The Cardinals close the regular season with a 8-3-4 overall record as they ran the NESCAC to a 5-1-4 record. Finishing ahead of the Cardinals is Tufts, ranked first in the nation. The Cardinals will play host to #7 Amherst in a must watch quarterfinal matchup.

While the Cardinals managed to outshoot the Camels in 10-9 margin, the Camels held a steady pace over the Cardinals for most of the match. As the first half came to a close, the Camels forced the Cardinals to fall back, a task seamlessly made with the return of Zach Feldman '27 and Dylan Clack '27 to the lineup.

With the second half underway, the Camels struck first, taking the late one-goal lead off the foot of Elliot Spatz. The Camels began the play on a throw in on the near line, Spatz managing to draw goalkeeper Mathis Blanc '26 to the top of the goal box before striking.

The Cardinals answered with six minutes remaining. Awarded a penalty kick as Jacob Schindler '29 was tripped up inside the box, Jennings set up for the shot and filed the ball away between the right post and the tips of TJ Krongard's gloves.

Jennings was the standout player of the game, leading the offense with six shots against the Camels.

Blanc earned the win, finishing with four saves in goal. Krongard recorded three saves for the Camels.

The Cardinals kickoff the NESCAC quarterfinals on Saturday, Nov.1, against #7 Amherst at 12 p.m.
