Buehler and the Cardinals Ward Off Conn., 3-0, in Regular Season Finale

MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Fueled by Riley' Buehler's '26 four-point evening, the Wesleyan women's soccer team secured the No. 8 seed heading into the NESCAC Championship with a 3-0 shutout victory over Connecticut College on Tuesday night as they close out the regular season at home on Smith Field.

The Cardinals return to the NESCAC Championship for the seventh-straight year, this time as the No. 8 seed heading into the opening round of the tournament. Finishing the regular season with a 9-3-3 overall record while marching to 4-3-3 in the NESCAC, the Cardinals will face top-seeded Tufts in the quarterfinals in Medford.

Making easy work of the Camels (5-9-1 overall, 1-9-0 NESCAC), Riley Buehler's go-ahead goal came at the 16-minute mark of the opening half. Booted downfield by Sheridan Snow '28, the ball was wrangled down into the near corner by Meredith Feiner '28 before passing it off to Buehler. Buehler's initial touch bounced off a defender before she was able to settle it back down and nail the shot off her right foot into the left corner.

Closing the first half, the Cardinals posted a 10-4 overall shot differential, nearly double what the second half would bring. Despite going 3-3 in the second half in shots, two of the three were goals. Buehler scored her second of the game at 56:26. With the action spearheaded by Maria Utz '27, the ball floated to Waverly Meyers '26 out above the arc before finding its way to Buehler charging down the near side. Drawing Saylor Redfearn out past the left post, Buehler's rigid shot fell into the right corner.

With Utz driving the ball down the left side, Feiner would score the third and final goal of the match at 71:57. Keeping pace with Utz from across the field, Feiner sped ahead of her defender and caught Utz's cross pass through the box, banking the shot off the crossbar.

In goal, Molly Brumbach '26 earned her 10th shutout of the season marking four saves. Yael Bugaev, Emily McBride, and Redfern combined for six saves for the Camels.

The Cardinals take to Medford, MA., on Saturday, Nov. 1, to face #1 Tufts in the NESCAC quarterfinals with kickoff at 1:30 p.m.
