WATERFORD, CT. - Facing a blustery November afternoon at Harkness Park, the Wesleyan women's cross country team finished in the middle of the pack at the NESCAC Championships, placing sixth with four runners placing in the Top 50 and seven total in the Top 100. The 6K conference final was hosted by Conn. College.
Williams once again took home the team title as they finished with 32 points. Middlebury (69), Conn. (81), Tufts (104), and Amherst (138) rounded out the Top 5. Closing the final six spots were Wesleyan (182), Bowdoin (210), Bates (224), Hamilton (236), Trinity (259), and Colby (284). Audrey Maclean of Middlebury won her second individual title in a row, placing first with a time of 20:47.80.
Highlights:
- Leading off the women with a Top 20 performance was Chase Cerrell '28. Cerrell placed 15th, just one spot outside of an All-NESCAC selection, crossing the finish line at 21:49.47, a season best. Cerrell bested her 2024 finish by 13 spots.
- Stephanie Ager '26 led a trio that finished just inside the Top 50 as Ager placed 46th with a final time of 22:42.47.
- Finishing a second behind Ager was Clare Mahedy '29 at 47. Mahedy finished with a clocked time of 22:43.09.
- Virginia Lessner '28 ran a season-best time of 22:48.80 in the event, placing 48th to finish out the Cardinals within the Top 50. Lessner also bested her 2024 finish by seven placements.
The Cardinals will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 15, when they travel to Canton, N.Y. for the NCAA Mideast Regional race.
