LEWISTON, ME. - Â Lead by the diving squad with an acquired 32 points from the 1-meter and 3-meter boards, the Wesleyan women's swimming and diving team fell to Bates College on Saturday afternoon as the team was just edged out in a 111-126 loss from the Tarbell Pool.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Â Taking the Top 3 spots in both diving disciplines, Ella Hall '28 led the way with two first-place finishes. Hall earned a score of 232.35 in the 1-meter before earning a personal-best score of 252.08 on the high board.
- Hazel Baldwin placed second in both dives, scoring a 220.8 in the 1-meter and a 231.90 on the 3-meter. Ella Chester '28 took third, scoring 152.63 in the 1-meter and 176.10 on the 3-meter.
- Picking up two first-place finishes in the freestyle events, James LaCroix '27 swam a 1:58.48 in the 200-yard free before swimming a 55.11 in the 100-yard free. Zoe Kuhn '26 placed second, with a 55.46.
- Another first-place finish went to Mia Dezelic '27 in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing with a top time of 2:10.05.
- Elena Baird '26 was also first in the 1,000-yard freestyle, clocking in with an 11:06.26.
- Placing second in the 200-yard breaststroke, Sara Bohacek '26 swam a 2:32.76. Izzy Paez '26 also placed second in the 200-yard fly, swimming a 2:12.82.
- Dezelic, Paez, Bohacek, and Kuhn combined for second place in the 400-yard medley relay, finishing with a 2:12.83.
The Cardinals return to action on Sunday, Nov. 23, when they head to No. 16 Amherst with action beginning at 12 p.m.
