AMHERST, MA. - Securing two first-place victories,
Mia Dezelic '27 and
Sara Bohacek '26 led the Wesleyan women's swimming and diving team on Sunday morning in a 94-204 loss to No. 16 Amherst College from Amherst's Pratt Pool.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Cardinals opened the meet with a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, Dezelic, Bohacek, Izzy Paez '26, and Zoe Kuhn '26 combing for a final time of 1:49.54, defeating the Mammoths in the event for the first time in recent memory.
- Victorious in the 50-yard backstroke, Dezelic lead a trio of Cardinals to sweep the top three spots in the race. Dezelic swam a 28.16 as Jacqueline Constantine '28 placed second at 28.79 and James LaCroix '27 placed third with a final 29.12.
- Bohacek followed Dezelic with a win in the 50-yard breaststroke, finishing with a final 31.47.
- Paez was a runner-up in two separate events, placing second in the 100-yard fly with a time of 1:00.00 before swimming a 27.22 in the 50-yard fly.
- In the 100-yard individual medley, LaCroix earned a runner-up finish, touching the wall with a 1:03.28.
- Highlighting the divers, Ella Hall '28 placed third in the three-meter, scoring a 239.47.
- Kuhn, Dezelic, LaCroix, and Anne Conway '26 placed second in the 200-yard free relay, swimming a combined 1:39.77.
The Cardinals return to action on Friday, Dec. 5, when they host the Jayden Szkirka Memorial Championships.
