Men’s Lacrosse Pours in 26 Goals, Defeating Stockton in Convincing Road Win

18 different goal scorers highlight Wesleyan's dominating win

GALLOWAY, N.J. – The No. 6 Wesleyan men's lacrosse team thumped Stockton in a 26-5 road win on Monday afternoon, rebounding from a road defeat at No. 3 Salisbury on Saturday. Wesleyan improves to 2-1 on the season while the Ospreys drops to 3-3.

In a game the Cardinals led 6-0, 13-1, and 24-3 at points throughout the game, Wesleyan put in a resounding performance with 21 players registering at least one point while 18 different Cardinals scored and five netted their first career goals in the 21-goal win.

Wesleyan scored on three of their first four possessions, with Ben Burns '26, Jack Raba '23, G'25, and Matt May '25 scoring within the first 2:08 of play. After more than seven minutes without a goal, the Cardinals added three more in the final five minutes of the quarter with CK Giancola '24, G'25, Will Shull '25, and Doug Rabin '26 getting in on the act to make it 6-0 after one. That goal from Rabin is the first of his career.

After Stockton broke the deadlock with their first goal to open the second quarter, a barrage of Wesleyan goals saw the Cardinals score seven times in a span of just 4:20 of game action. Burns scored three straight goals to complete his hat trick and start the 7-0 scoring run. Devin O'Sullivan '25 netted his first before Burns scored his fifth to make it 11-1. James Bailey '26 and Giancola completed the scoring before Wesleyan went into halftime with a 14-3 advantage.

The Cardinals put the game to bed early in the third quarter, with Jared Cohen '25 scoring his second career goal before Charlie Hoban '25 carried from midfield before uncorking an unassisted goal off a Wesleyan faceoff win. Raba scored his second of the game and Drew Ambrose '27 scored to make it 18-3 heading into the fourth.

With the bench emptied in the fourth quarter, several underclassmen made a good impression as the Cardinals went on to outscore Stockton 8-2 in the fourth. Thomas Girimonti '28 netted two unassisted goals to start the quarter, giving him the first multi-goal game of his career. Devin Alton '25 scored right off a faceoff win before Ryan Aabel '28, Kyle Short '28, Jack Stanislaw '27, and Palmer Zarzycki '28 all scored their first career goals before the final whistle.

Burns tied his career-high with five goals, on his way to a six-point game, while Raba had two goals and four assists to match Burns' six-point total. Drew Zyskowksi '27 more than doubled his career point total heading into play with a four-point game (one goal, three assists). Charlie Wilmot '26 dished out three assists for his first career multi-point game while adding four ground balls.

The five faceoff specialists for Wesleyan combined to go 27-for-35 at X with Jackson Tinari '26 going 8-for-12, Tyler Campbell '25 won 6-of-8, Alton finished 5-for-6, Stanislaw went 4-for-5, and Jack Doherty '28 was perfect with four wins in four attempts.
