MIDDLETOWN, CT. - Making the most of a midweek non-conference dual, the Wesleyan men's tennis team won their second straight matchup in a 6-1 defeat of Stevens Institute of Technology on Wednesday afternoon in the first outdoor match of the season at the John Woods Memorial Courts.
Just two days removed from their last win, the Cardinals faced the partly cloudy conditions outside as they played host to the Ducks. Filling the final lineup spot on court six,
Brett Keeling '27 allowed just two points from Olof Persson, going 6-1, 6-1 with the first singles point of the afternoon.
Facing Mirhir Parcha at No. 2,
Harry Collomb '26 followed Keeling with little dallying to put away the 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Parcha and give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead. Closing the upper courts for the day,
Tai MacDonald '26 at No. 5 beat Matt Luzzi 6-3, 6-0 in his second outing of the season. Stevens' Aidan Miller pushed
Max Litton '26 to an additional game in set one, but was unable to make much of a comeback before Litton won 7-5 and turned up the heat with a 6-0 win in set two.
Unhappy with the 6-1 first set defeat, Samvid Andhare also forced an extra game against
Max Lustgarten '25 at No. 3. With Lustgarten already ahead, there was little room for any result other than a 7-5 win for Lustgarten through set two.
The Cardinals once again swept doubles play, claiming their first point of the afternoon in quick fashion. Finishing first as the No. 2 pairing, Litton and Collomb defeated Max William-Kanz and Parcha, 6-3. The top pairing of
JT Bilski '26 and Lustgarten put away a 6-3 win over Persson and Vivek Harinarayan. Peaking with a tiebreak at No. 3, Keeling and
Chase Kasday '26 edged out Andhare and Luzzi for the 7-6 (8-6) final tally.
The Cardinals return to action on Friday, March 14, when they host No. 21 MIT at 3 p.m.
