MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women's track & field team opened the 2025 outdoor campaign at home with the J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic hosted at the Andersen Track Complex on Saturday.
Juliette Sullivan '27 captured a first place finish on the day, as the sophomore sprinter took first in the 100m with a personal-best time of 12.54 seconds, topping a field of 36 competitors. Sullivan followed that up with a second place showing in the 200m, crossing the line in 25.86 seconds in a field of 62 sprinters.
The Cardinals fielded a strong contingent in the 3000m as five Cardinals found themselves finishing in second through sixth place out of 31 runners in the event.
Alexandra Simon '27 led Wesleyan with a second place finish overall and a personal-best time of 10:22.51.
Margaret Stevens '27 placed third with a time of 10:23.80 while
Virginia Lessner '28 (4
th place, 10:24.44),
Rose Halford '27 (5
th; 10:32.49), and
Oona Vali '27 (6
th; 10:41.16) each established new personal-best times.
Elanora Smith '27 showed well in the 1500m, taking second place in her first career appearance in the event. Smith clocked in at 4:50.98 to finish as the runner-up in a field of 45 competitors.
Stella Loezos '27 placed ninth overall with a time of 5:03.86 in the 1500m.
Sophia Mack '26 landed a pair of Top 10 finishes as the junior posted an eighth place finish out of 62 sprinters in the 200m, crossing the line in 27.45 seconds. Mack followed with a 10
th place finish in the 400m (1:03.01).
Imagen Walters '26 picked up a seventh place finish in the 400m hurdles, as she had a time of 1:10.98 in the event.
Leading the Cardinals in the field events was
Mia Kjaer '28 who was fourth-best in the pole vault at 2.95m.
Kate DiTullio '28 competed in the javelin and took ninth place at 30.11m.
Wesleyan hits the road for their next meet which is the Tufts Snowflake Classic held in Medford on March 29 starting at 9 AM.
