MIDDLETOWN, CT. – The Wesleyan men's tennis team played their home opener to a 4-1 NESCAC loss to No. 8 Bowdoin College on Saturday morning, battling to singles win by
Harry Collomb '26 inside the Bacon Field House.
Unphased by his defeat at No. 1 doubles with teammate
JT Bilski '26, or the doubles play sweep by the Polar Bears, Collomb was the second match of the morning to finish in singles play. Opening the season at No. 2, Collomb left little room for Pieter Breuker to gain much ground as he pulled ahead in both sets with a 6-4, 6-4 final. Brueker took early leads in both sets, but by point three Collomb tied each set up and battled to six.
At No. 3,
Max Lustgarten '25 looked to have his match with Jackson Codd in the bag with a 6-2 set one win, but Codd was not happy with just two points and took sets two and three instead. The final score of 6-2, 2-6, 3-6 was point four for the Polar Bears.
The Cardinals return to action on Sunday, March 9, when they host Colby in NESCAC action beginning at 10 a.m.
