MIDDLETOWN, CT. - Placing 11
th at the NESCAC Championships, the Wesleyan women's track and field team played host to the conference championship, earning seven Top 15 placements as the team was led by
Alexandra Simon '27 in the steeplechase from the Andersen Track at Citrin Field.
Taking the top spot, Williams College won the NESCAC title for the 27
th time while Amherst College was recognized as the runners-up.
Simon led the way with a top finish in the 3000m steeplechase. Simon placed fifth, crossing the finish line with an 11:12.39 final time. Leading the way through the field events,
Fiona Carroll '25 earned a seventh-place finish in the women's pole vault at a final height of 3.40m.
Racing the 4x800m relay,
Elanora Smith '27,
Jordan Walter '25,
Stella Loezos '27, and Simon combined for a final time of 9:37.98, earning the Cardinals a finish in seventh place.
Jumpstarting the day,
Juliette Sullivan '27 placed 12
th in the 200m dash, crossing the line at 26.02. Opening the distance races, Walter also placed 12
th in the 1500m, clocking in at 4:46.67.
Falling in just a few spots behind Carroll,
Mia Kjaer '28 completed 3.10m in the pole vault and placed 12
th. The final finish of the field events was the javelin throw, and it was
Kate DiTullio '28 that earned a finish at 11
th, throwing for 31.87m.
The Cardinals will take the week to prepare for the New England Division III Championships, beginning on Friday, May 2, through Saturday, May 3.
