WILLIAMSTOWN, MA. – Facing a formidable opponent during the regular season finale on the road, the No. 15 Wesleyan men's tennis team fell in NESCAC action on Sunday afternoon to No. 23 Williams College in a 5-2 loss from the Bennington Tennis Center.
The Cardinals will enter the NESCAC Championship as the No. 7 seed, finishing the regular season with a 9-6 overall record, besting last year's finish, while running 5-5 in the NESCAC.
While the Ephs picked up the first point of the afternoon with two wins out of the three doubles matches,
Harry Collomb '26 and
Max Litton '26 still managed to carve out a win as the No. 1 pairing. Facing Shawn Berdia and Nicholas Chen, the duo was forced to extra games but toppled the competition with a 7-5 win.
At No. 5,
Chase Kasday'26 was the first Cardinal to secure a singles victory as he went head-to-head with Diego Marin in a 6-4, 6-1 final tally for the Cardinals. After finishing the first set at No. 2 with a win,
Max Lustgarten '26 was taken to a third set tiebreaker as Berdia tied the match up at one. Lustgarten allowed just three points more and took the match with a final score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Lustgarten finishes his senior season 11-2 overall in singles play.
The Cardinals will head to Middlebury for the NESCAC Championships on Friday, May 2, to face No. 2 Amherst with action beginning at 1 p.m.
