AMHERST, MA. – The Wesleyan women's track and field team competed at the Amherst Spring Fling on Saturday, April 5, highlighting the weekend against eight other institutions with 12 Top 10 placements, led by
Alexandra Simon '27 with a first-place final in the 3000m steeplechase.
The Cardinals met the weekend with handfuls of success but Simon's finish in the steeplechase was the top finish for the team. Just 16 seconds off the program record, Simon crossed the finish line with a final 11:15.75. Sara Pinsonault set the 10:59.68 record in 2018.
Sophia Mack '26 topped the competition with two Top 10 finishes in the sprint events. Racing the 200m, Mack placed ninth with a clocked time of 28.08. Mack followed the event with another finish in the 400m, running a final time of 1:01.86 and placed seventh.
Following Mack in the 200m,
Rachel Masterson '26 rounded out the Top 10 as she crossed at 28.38. In the 400m,
Juliette Sullivan '27 placed ahead of Mack in fifth place, placing with a 1:00.34.

Two Cardinals placed in the 1500m as
Jordan Walter '25 led the way with a third-place finish. Walter ran a 4:44.12 and holds the program's outdoor record in the event with a 4:35.30.
Virginia Lessner '28 filed over the finish line behind Walter in fourth place, running a 4:45.62.
Placing fourth in the 400m hurdles,
Imagen Walters '26 crossed with a finished time of 1:11.41. Running a 1:12.17,
Eva Beauchamp '28 placed fifth.
Leading the way in the field events,
Fiona Carroll '25 earned a fifth-place finish in the women's pole vault, finishing with a height of 3.25m. Finishing seventh,
Mia Kjaer '28 closed at 3.10m.
In the women's shot put,
Naomi McGadney '27 placed sixth, throwing for a distance of 10.67m.
The Cardinals will be back in action on Friday, April 11, and Saturday, April 12, when they travel to New London for the Silfen Invitational.
