WILLIAMSBURG, Va. –
Amanda Phillips '28 of the Wesleyan women's golf team made history this week, becoming the first in program history to compete at the NCAA Division III Championships.
Phillips kicked off the week on a rain-soaked Tuesday that saw a four-hour delay in the middle of her round. Despite dealing with tough conditions, Phillips managed to shoot 80 (+8) that featured a birdie on the par 3 2
nd hole.
Playing in much improved conditions on Wednesday, Phillips shot a 37 (+2) on the front 9 and had six pars on the back nine to shoot 78 (+6) on the 18-hole Plantation Course at Kingsmill Resort.
The 80-78-158 (+14) landed Phillips inside the Top 100 out of nearly 200 golfers in the field.
This concludes what is the best single-season in Wesleyan women's golf history, as the Cardinals saw their first two All-NESCAC honorees as well as the first NCAA qualifier and All-Region selection in Phillips.
