Women’s Cross Country Places Third at Home

MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Celebrating the Class of 2026, the Wesleyan women's cross country team played host to the annual Cardinal Invitational on Saturday afternoon, placing third out of 13 competing institutions at the Wes Furhman '05 Trails Cross Country Course.

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Cardinals finished third with a score of 94. MIT won the invite with 22 points and Coast Guard placed second with 88 points.
  • Placing in the Top 10, Virginia Lessner '28 crossed the finish line at 9 with a team leading 21:59.7. Placing 10th , Stephanie Ager '26 clocked in at 22:05.9.
  • Chase Cerrell '28 earned a Top 20 placement, running at 22:25.3 as she placed 16th.
  • Amherst's Hannah Stephenson placed 1st at 20:45.
The Cardinals return to action on Friday, Oct. 3, when they compete at the Paul Short Invitational beginning at 4 p.m.
