Elliana Moreno of the Wesleyan volleyball team earned NESCAC Player of the Week award, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is Moreno's first career Player of the Week honor.
The NESCAC leader in digs per set was tremendous in a home weekend NESCAC sweep. She started with 18 digs and a career-high 13 assists as the Cardinals pulled out a thrilling four-set win over Colby on Friday night in Silloway Gym. Moreno followed with a season-high 21 digs, a personal record in a three-set match, to go along with a career-high four service aces in a dominant 3-0 sweep of Bowdoin on Saturday afternoon.
Moreno has accumulated 120 digs through 25 sets played, giving her a NESCAC-leading digs per set average of 4.8. The next-closest player in the NESCAC averages 4.29 digs per set.
The Cardinals (8-0) take their undefeated record into the weekend where Wesleyan hosts Johns Hopkins on Friday night in a spotlight showdown between two national powers.
