#21 Women’s Soccer Holds #6 Tufts to Scoreless Draw

MEDFORD, MA. -  Marking the first meeting of a fellow ranked opponent this season, the #21 ranked Wesleyan women's soccer team traveled to #6 Tufts University on Saturday morning, holding Tufts to a scoreless draw at Bello Field as they remain unbeaten.

Heading into Saturday's matchup with the Jumbos, the Cardinals (5-0-3 overall, 1-0-3 NESCAC) had two draws on the board, just one without a tally against Bates. The Cardinals have outscored their opponents 20-1. The Jumbos (6-0-1 overall, 4-0-1 NESCAC) handed the Cardinals the team's toughest test of the season, matching the shot count of the seven previous opponents combined at 19 faced.

Molly Brumbach '26 and the defense pulled out all of the stops as the Jumbos were given space to attack for 90 minutes. Brumbach stopped all six shots on goal, earning her fifth shutout on the season, the senior with a standing 4-0-3 record. Payton Radosti '29 and Sheridan Snow '28 logged ironman minutes with Brumbach in the back to keep the Jumbos fixed from the box.

Maria Utz '27 and Waverly Meyers '26 led the charge from the front, Utz with four shots on goal, all stopped by Gigi Edwards.

For the Jumbos, Waverly Sumner and Elsi Aires each put two touches on Brumbach to keep the Cardinals on edge.

The Cardinals return to action on Sunday, Sept. 28, when they travel to No. 10 Middlebury for a 2 p.m. kickoff.
