BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – In their first action back on the mat in the 2026 calendar year, the Wesleyan wrestling team earned a pair of wins over WPI and Bridgewater State on Saturday in a tri-meet hosted by BSU. The Cardinals toppled WPI by a score of 30-18 and defeated the host Bears 29-18 to improve to 3-0 in the dual match portion of the schedule.

Four Cardinals went 2-0 on the day including
Hayden Myers '27 at 141,
Ike Guttentag '26 at 149,
Ronnie Christolin '28 at 157, and
Akiva Lind '26 at 165. Myers, Guttentag, and Christolin all landed a pair of extra point wins on the day while Lind battled his way to a pair of decision victories to highlight his two-win day.

Wesleyan 30, WPI 18 | Results
- Sebastian Kristal '28 opened the scoring for the Cardinals with a pin in 2:38 at 133 to kickstart a five-match win streak that helped Wesleyan seal the win over the Engineers
- Myers followed with a pin at 141 over Mason Medina, needing just 2:06 to secure six points in the team point total
- Guttentag landed a third straight win via pin for Wesleyan, as the senior made it 18-3 Wesleyan with a pin of Mason Basara in 4:12 at 149
- Christolin put the Cardinals on the verge of guaranteeing a win, defeating Lucas Marchese 22-7 in a tech fall to make it 24-3 Cardinals with five bouts remaining
- Lind stepped to the mat and held his own against Joey Baisley, defeating his counterpart with an 8-3 decision at 165
- With a 24-point margin and four bouts left, the match win was secured at 174 as Ben Ronca '28 was defeated but in a decision as WPI needed four pins in the last four bouts to finish on the same point total as Wesleyan
- Michael DiOrio '29 finished out the match with a 14-3 major decision win in the heavyweight bout to secure the 30-18 win for Wesleyan

Wesleyan 29, Bridgewater State 18 | Results
- Chris Hong '27 landed an overtime win over Sei Dolomengi at 125 to open the second dual on the day for Wesleyan
- Much like the first match, Wesleyan secured complete control in the middle portion of the dual as the Cardinals landed six straight bout wins, starting at 141 with Myers defeating Malcolm Chrispin 14-1 in a major decision
- Guttentag was dominant in a 18-3 tech fall triumph over Cqari Bacote at 149
- Christolin landed a 14-5 major decision win at 157 over Avery Carl
- Lind kept the streak going with a 4-2 decision win over James Calabrese at 165
- Rinaldo DiGiacopo made it 23-6 Wesleyan with a 15-2 major decision win at 174
- The match win was secured at 184 with Ronca capturing six points on a win by forfeit
- This marks the 10th straight win for Wesleyan over BSU in the all-time series history
The Cardinals are back in action next weekend with a trip to Pennsylvania for the Will Abele Invitational hosted by Ursinus.
