Game Recap: Women's Ice Hockey |

Women’s Hockey Defeated by No. 2 Amherst, 6-2

AMHERST, MA. -  The Wesleyan women's ice hockey team fell in NESCAC action on Saturday afternoon to No. 2 Amherst College in a 6-2 final that saw Dylan Green '26 and Caroline Kee '26 tally goals for the Cardinals from Amherst's Orr Rink.

Hanging tight through the first period, the Cardinals staved off the advances made by the Mammoths as neither team allowed a goal through 20 minutes. The Cardinals tossed 12 shots on Mammoths goaltender Natalie Stott.

A tripping minor awarded to the Cardinals would give way to the Mammoths first goal with the second period underway with Emily Hohmann earning the goal credit. Needing little time to regroup, the Cardinals struck just a minute and a half later as Caroline Kee snapped the puck over Stott's right pad from center. Amelia Molin '27 and Parker Caldara's '29 zone clearing earned them assists.

The Mammoths jumped at the opportunity to take the lead once more as Annabel Raffin put a goal behind Jenna Guglielmi '27 but as the clock neared the midway mark, Green tied the game up again at two. Green punched the puck over the line on a diving play as she was tripped up in the crease, Beats Tura '26 and Lilly Place '29 assisted.

The second period ended with two additional goals from the Mammoths, both falling off the stick of Bea Flynn. The third period also tilted for the Mammoths with Meave Reynolds and Malaya Anaba tallying as well.

Guglielmi closed the afternoon in goal with 48 saves for the Cardinals. Stott earned the win with 19 saves.

The Cardinals' Sunday afternoon matchup with the Mammoths on Jan. 25, has been postponed with makeup date and time to be determined.
