Green and Diomede Post Career Games, Leading No. 2 Women’s Lacrosse Past No. 16 Stevens, 12-5

Cardinals outscore Stevens 9-2 in the final 43+ minutes of the contest

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The No. 2 Wesleyan women's lacrosse team outscored No. 16 Stevens 9-2 across the final 43+ minutes, including a 6-0 run between the second and third quarters, as the Cardinals rolled past the Ducks in a 12-5 win on Wednesday night from the DeBaun Athletic Complex. The Cardinals (3-0) defeat a ranked opponent for the second straight game while Stevens (2-3) loses for the third time in three games against ranked opponents this season.

A pair of senior midfielders led the charge for the Cardinals as Dylan Green '26 and Lindsey Diomede '26 both turned in career-high performances. Green, in just her second game back from finishing the season with the Wesleyan women's ice hockey team, scored four goals and added three assists for a career-high seven points. Diomede stuffed the stat sheet with a career-high four caused turnovers, while matching her career-high with four ground balls, to go along with four draw controls and one assist.

Eight Cardinals scored at least once in a dominant win for the visitors, as Green got the scoring started with an unassisted marker late in the shot clock on the first possession of the game. Stevens answered back with a goal on their first possession, then took a 2-1 lead at the 7:20 mark of the first quarter.

Wesleyan would only allow one shot over the remaining 7+ minutes, while Addie Cummings '26 and Green scored goals to give the Cardinals a 3-2 lead entering the second quarter.

A low-scoring frame saw just three goals scored between the two sides, all in a span of 3:32. After Alison Murray tied the score at 3 apiece for Stevens, Green completed her first half hat trick and Mya Waryas '27 followed with a goal after Wesleyan won the draw, seeing the Cardinals take a 5-3 halftime lead. Izzy Weintraub '26 made a pair of saves after the Waryas goal to preserve the two-goal advantage for Wesleyan.

The game took a deciding turn early in the third quarter as four more Wesleyan goals extended the Cardinals' lead to 9-3. Maddie Shoemaker '27 started what became a string of four straight Wesleyan possessions ending in goals, taking a feed from Green and scoring for the Cardinals. Caroline Cervini '27 netted a free position goal before Becca Dibble '26 scored and Green hit the back of the net for a fourth time on the evening.

Stevens scored twice before the end of the third quarter to break up what was a 6-0 scoring run for the Cardinals. The fourth quarter, however, was dominated by Wesleyan as the Cardinals scored three more goals while outshooting the Ducks 7-1. Of Stevens' six total possessions in the frame, five ended in turnovers, while Weintraub saved the one shot attempt for Stevens in the fourth.

Bridget Horst '26, Elle Priesing '26, and Dibble each scored once for Wesleyan in the fourth quarter to account for the 12-5 final margin.

Wesleyan outshot Stevens 29-14 and 15-6 in the second half alone. The Cardinals committed a season-low 11 turnovers while Wesleyan held a massive 22-10 edge in ground balls.

Kate Tracy '27 scooped up four ground balls to tie with Diomede for the team-lead. National D3 Player of the Week Elise Kurtis '29 posted three ground balls and two caused turnovers. Lilly Stoller '26 had three ground balls while Weintraub finished with three saves.

Wesleyan has a big spotlight showdown with No. 7 Colby on Saturday at Noon.
