MIDDLETOWN, CT. - Following a record-breaking performance in goal for the Wesleyan men's ice hockey team, sophomore goaltender
Patrick McDevitt was named the NESCAC Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday afternoon.
As the No. 5 seeded Cardinals traveled to No. 4 Middlebury for the NESCAC Championship quarterfinal matchup, the end result was a program-best 73 saves in goal for McDevitt in the double overtime matchup, the most in a single game. McDevitt's 73 stops also set a NESCAC Championship record for most saves in a single game.
McDevitt made 51 consecutive saves before allowing a goal late in the third period, while he went on to finish with 73 stops, surpassing former Cardinal Tim Sestak's previous single-game team and NESCAC Championship record of 65.
Sestak's 2019 performance in the NESCAC semifinal was a triple overtime defeat of Amherst.
