No. 26 Men’s Tennis Downs Conn. in 6-1 Home Victory

MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Making easy work of the first home match since returning from Spring play in North Carolina, the Wesleyan men's tennis team defeated Conn. College on Saturday afternoon in a 6-1 NESCAC victory from inside the Bacon Field House.

Opening the afternoon matchup with a complete sweep of doubles play, the Cardinals clinched an early one-point lead. The No. 1 doubles pairing of Harry Collomb '26 and Chase Burke '29 defeated Wolf Sohlberg an Noa Hoshino in a 6-3 final. Paired at No. 2, Chase Kasday '26 and Ryuto Saito '29 ran a 6-2 win over Arjun Premkumar and Sigmund Winiecki. Dropping just one point at No. 3, Brett Keeling '27 and Max Litton '26 beat Nikolai Kahrs and Edward Petersen, 6-1.

Slotted at No. 2 as singles play got underway, Saito swept Sohlberg in set one before finishing the match with a 6-0, 6-4 victory. Keeling cleared Winiecki as the No. 3 in a 6-1, 6-4 tallied final.

Dropping just two points in the second set as he faced Hoshino a second time, Burke finished his No. 4 match with a 6-0, 6-2 final score. Making his first appearance of the afternoon at No. 5, Tommy Jani '29 defeated Kristian Brondmo, 6-3, 6-1.

Tai MacDonald '26 ran three sets with Gavin Anderson at No. 6 after Anderson forced a tiebreaker having won the second set. MacDonald prevailed, finishing with a final score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

The Cardinals return to action on Friday, April 3, when they travel to MIT for a 4 p.m. start.
