Men’s Tennis Bested by No. 10 Middlebury, 5-2

MIDDLETOWN, CT. -  The Wesleyan men's tennis team fell in NESCAC action on Sunday afternoon to No. 10 Middlebury College in a 5-2 defeat at home inside the Bacon Field House.

Led by Max Litton '26 with joint victories, the Cardinals snagged an early advantage over the Panthers following doubles play with two of the three match wins going to the Cardinals. Litton and partner Brett Keeling '27 defeated Hugh Hentschel and Anand Sahasrabudhe at No. 3 in a 6-4 performance. The No. 1 pairing of Harry Collomb '26 and freshman Chase Burke toppled Noah Lewis and Julian Wu in a 7-6 (7-3) tiebreak.

Sitting at No. 4 in the singles rotation, Litton took Reif Larson to a 6-4, 6-4 finish with the second point of the afternoon.

Keeling, for his efforts, ran three sets at No. 5 with Hugh Hentschel, forcing a third set after tying the match up with a 6-4 second set victory. Hentschel ultimately earned the win with a final 4-6, 6-4, 4-10 score.

The Cardinals return to action on Monday, March 16, when they face Amherst at 10 a.m. in Hilton Head Island, S.C. in the first matchup of the Spring Break tour.
