HARTFORD, Conn. – The Wesleyan men's golf team opened the spring portion of its 2025-26 season with a 10
th place finish out of 14 teams at the Trinity/Hartford Spring Invitational held at the Keney Park Golf Course. Wesleyan shot 295-299-594 (+34) as a team over the 36-hole tournament. Hofstra came out on top, finishing +7 as a team over the two days.
Wesleyan fared well on the par 3's and par 5's on the weekend, as the Cardinals turned in an average score of 3.28 (tied for fifth-best of any team in the tournament) on par 3's while the team averaged a 4.97 on par 5's (also fifth-best among the teams in the field).
Lev Abramson '28 led the Cardinals with a +5 over the two days as the sophomore shot 70-75 (+5) to finish in a tie for 17
th on the player leaderboard. Abramson's even par round of 70 on Saturday featured three birdies in a five-hole span as he birdied the par 4 8
th hole as well as the par 3 11
th and par 4 12
th. He came back and shot a 75 on Sunday with two birdies on the back 9 to finish the weekend with five birdies and 22 pars.
Fisher Hirsch '26 shaved three strokes off his round 1 to finish with a 76-73 (+9) for the weekend. Hirsch posted three birdies on Saturday in his opening round 76 before turning in a 73 (+3) on Sunday that featured 12 pars and two birdies. The senior closed with a -1 (34) on the back 9 on Sunday with on birdie and eight pars. He finished in a tie for 35
th place overall on the player leaderboard in a field of 78 golfers.
Gavin Sendar '28 was the next-highest finisher on the player leaderboard as he shot 77-75 (+12). Sendar's opening round featured three birdies on the back 9, as he shot a 36 (+1) on holes 10-18 on Saturday. He posted 11 pars on Sunday to shave two strokes off hi Saturday total.
Rounding out the field for Wesleyan was
Zach Liu '26 who carded a 79-76 (+15) for the weekend, totaling four birdies over the two days.
Johnathan Harlukowicz '27 opened the tournament with a sensational 72 (+2) on Saturday, firing in a 34 (-1) with one birdie and eight pars on the front 9.
The Cardinals are back in action on April 11-12 for the Tim Brown Invitational hosted by Skidmore at the Ballston Spa Country Club.
