MEDFORD, Mass. – The No. 12 Wesleyan men's lacrosse team had their hands full with a red hot No. 1 Tufts squad as the Jumbos led 11-3 after the first quarter and ultimately closed out a 23-7 win on Bello Field in the NCAA Semifinal round. The Cardinals (14-5) complete their 2026 season having made it back to the Final Four for the fifth time in team history and first since 2018.
Tufts shot the ball incredibly well all night, generating 53 shots over the first three quarter combined including 36 in the first half alone. The Jumbos also dominated in the face off circle, winning 26-of-34 for the night, to dominate the possession totals.
Gavin Lechner '27 led the Cardinals with two goals and one assist for a three-point night.
Will Miller '26 scored twice in his final career game while
Kyle Short '28,
Charlie Wilmot '26, and
James Bailey '26 also netted goals for Wesleyan.
Conor Selfridge '26 made 10 saves in cage while
Lucca Casagrande '26 forced two turnovers.
The Jumbos hit hard in the first quarter, scoring five unanswered to start play before Short scored after a clean face off win for
Jack Doherty '28. Miller cut the deficit to three with a goal just over a minute later, but the Jumbos answered back with another 5-0 run to lead 10-2.
It was later 12-4 Tufts early in the second quarter when yet another 5-0 run made it 17-4 and the Jumbos closed out the 23-7 win to head back to the National Championship game for the fourth straight season.
