CHATTANOOGA, TN. - Following her match point performance to win the Wesleyan women's tennis team the 2026 NCAA National Championship,
Agnes Guggenheim '29 returned to the court to compete in the NCAA Division III Individual Championships in the singles draw, ranked 20
th overall.
Guggenheim, the first Cardinal freshman to compete in the individual tournament since teammate
Leila Epstein in 2023, earned her keep in the tournament as she entered with a 16-7 overall record when the NCAA announced the singles bracket. Guggenheim was named the 2026 NESCAC Rookie of the Year following conference play as the Cardinals ran as the undefeated NESCAC Champions.
Friday morning saw Guggenheim open the Round of 32 against No. 8 Emily Kantrovitz of Emory University. Guggenheim climbed to a steep victory in set one as Kantrovitz fought until the very end but dropped just two games to the senior as the 6-4, 6-2 victor.
Advancing to the Round of 16, Guggenheim switched venues and took to the courts to face No. 27 Lauren Long of Washington & Lee University. Fighting to extra games, Long outlasted Guggenheim in set one with a 7-5 finish and ultimately defeated Guggenheim after two sets despite Guggenheim's early leading efforts in a 7-5, 6-4 final score.
Guggenheim's Round of 32 victory secured ITA All-American honors, the first of her career.
