MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - The Wesleyan softball team saw a team record 16 student-athletes named Scholar-Athletes by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) this past weekend.
The rankings and honors recognize the academic prowess of softball teams across the Association's membership categories. To be named an NFCA Scholar-Athlete, individuals need to have earned a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale. NCAA Division III saw 2,491 student-athletes earning a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for 2025-26. NCAA Division I led the way with 2,637 and NCAA Division II saw 1,869. Junior colleges and NAIA came in with 1,190 and 655 student-athletes respectively.
Wesleyan softball's cumulative team GPA of 3.637 for the 2025-26 academic year ranked just outside the Top 30 for softball programs nationally at the Div. III level. Representing the Cardinals on the NFCA Scholar-Athlete list is: Alexis Amante '26, Malia Apor '28, Kelly Baker '26, Rebecca Cassel-Siskind '26, Nicole Celi '27, Sam Chappell '28, Ella DeCrescenzo '27, Katie Foley '28, Whitney Gigante '28, Jordynn Killion '27, Molly Lennon '26, Cameron Maloney '29, Cat Palmer '26, Waverly Smart '27, Naomi Tesoriere '29, and Lucia Zaremba '29.
